SUMMARY:CERA Presentation: A "community first" approach to continuous improvement - Leveraging Community Schools to Help our Most Vulnerable Students
DESCRIPTION:The CCEE – CAAASA partnership\, revitalized in 2022/23 as The African American Student Success Network (AASSN)\, supports local educational agencies in improving outcomes for Black students in California. The network addresses barriers like insufficient teacher qualifications and systemic racial biases\, focusing on evidence-based solutions. Napa and San Diego County Offices of Education will share their experiences using the “Street Data” framework and PERTS Elevate survey to enhance student engagement and reduce absenteeism. Participants will gain insights into successful strategies\, data collection protocols\, and decision-making processes to foster academic and social-emotional success for African American students.

SUMMARY:Are We Over-Testing?: Balanced Assessment System Pilot Study to Answer Over-Testing Hypothesis in California Districts
DESCRIPTION:Is over-testing hindering instructional time? The California Collaborative for Educational Excellence\, in partnership with the Center for Assessment\, launched a Balanced Assessment System pilot to evaluate the quality of local assessments. Bakersfield City School District\, a pilot participant\, will share its findings on eliminating redundant or unnecessary assessments\, freeing up time for more instructionally meaningful practices. Attendees will gain access to an online toolkit designed to help districts review and align their assessment systems with local educational goals.
