SUMMARY:Open Door Session: Merced COE
DESCRIPTION:What does it take to improve the quality of mathematics instruction on a large scale? Merced COE has addressed this question by creating a Comprehensive Improvement Plan weaving together 5 key components: ambitious instruction\, job-embedded coaching\, PLC support\, building capacity of leaders\, and improvement science. Their mathematical philosophy embeds a whole child approach\, considering and prioritizing the full scope of child development – social\, emotional\, cognitive and academic\, as well as physical and mental health. This approach understands that in order to reach their full potential\, students need access to safe and welcoming learning environments and rich learning experiences. This webinar is targeted towards county office of education staff who aspire to improve mathematics instruction in their counties or regions. \nThis event has passed. SUMMARY:CCEE Presentation at American Education Research Association
DESCRIPTION:Assistant Director\, Julie Boesch\, will be co-presenting Scaling and Sustaining Community Schools Through Systems-Level Support at the 2023 American Education Research Association annual meeting. \n  \nHistoric investments\, at the federal and state levels\, are being made in community schools\, schools that partner with community organizations and families to integrate a range of opportunities and supports in order to nurture student learning\, development\, and wellbeing. These investments forecast increased implementation of community schools across the country; as a result\, education leaders must understand how to implement high-quality community schools in policy and practice. This session presents lessons learned from California\, a state with a rich history of community schools implementation. It includes an overall framework for district-level implementation\, case studies of community school implementation in urban and rural districts and a study of district efforts to prepare\, and support teachers to be successful in community schools. \nThe West Kern Consortium: A Case Study of Rural Community School Implementation – Julie Boesch\, California State University – Fresno; Michael Figueroa; Jaclyn J.
