SUMMARY:Implementing Balanced Assessment Systems in Practice
DESCRIPTION:Join CCEE at the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME) Conference! \nAre you concerned about the amount of testing in schools? Educators everywhere struggle to find the balance between gaining valuable insights into student learning and minimizing the impact of excessive testing time. In this session\, CCEE staff and partners will share practical tools\, resources\, and strategies that can help schools and districts develop more balanced assessment systems. \nParticipants will explore the results of California’s strategic efforts to engage both district leaders and classroom teachers in the implementation of balanced assessment systems. Two districts will highlight their experiences: one will discuss their top-down approach that streamlined their local assessment system\, eliminating unnecessary tests to prioritize instructionally useful ones. The other will present their bottom-up experience in rebalancing assessments through a formative assessment in math professional learning series.
