SUMMARY:Improvement Science Basics - Fall 2025
DESCRIPTION:Improvement science is a powerful tool for educators seeking to identify areas of improvement\, implement evidence-based interventions\, and measure progress. This course is designed to provide educators with the knowledge and skills needed to become effective change agents in their classrooms\, schools\, and districts\, and to make a positive impact on student learning and outcomes. \nThis course consists of three\, two-day online sessions and is open to public educators (districts\, charters\, SELPAs\, COEs and State Agencies) in California. Between sessions\, teams practice applying their learning with the support from SIL improvement facilitators. Organizations should plan to send teams of 2-4 participants that will work on a shared problem of practice.  The time commitment between sessions ranges from 5-10 hours. Please review the complete course description before submitting your team’s application:  https://bit.ly/ISBOverview25-26.  \nSelected teams will be sent a notification email that includes a link to register for the course. If you have any questions about this professional learning opportunity\, please contact us at info@systemimprovement.org. \n*Please note\, teams with a problem area focused on Students with Disabilities are given priorities with admissions\, but all are welcome to apply. \nClick flyer and here to register.

SUMMARY:Understanding Gender Differences in Autism: Implications for Assessment and Identification
DESCRIPTION:Drawing on current research\, we will explore how autism can present differently in boys and girls\, including variations in communication styles\, social behaviors\, mannerisms\, special interests\, and play behaviors. Research shows girls are typically diagnosed later than boys and that our current assessment measures are less sensitive to girls with autism than boys. Participants will examine how these differences may influence assessment practices and contribute to under- or misidentification in special education. Strategies for more equitable and accurate evaluation will be discussed\, with the goal of improving early identification and support for all children with autism. \nRegistration link \nFlyer

SUMMARY:Data Practices that Uncover Student Learning: Centering Student Voice to Challenge Assumptions
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description:\nIn schools\, the most powerful data often lives closest to students—in their voices\, experiences\, and the stories they share that challenge our assumptions. Every piece of data tells a story about a whole child\, including their academic progress\, social-emotional well-being\, physical health\, and the barriers they face. This interactive workshop will equip you and your team with practical strategies to use data as a powerful tool in professional learning and collaboration to improve student outcomes and experience. \nLearning Outcomes:\n\nFocal Student Learning Partnership  Conversations: Learn how to systematically gather street data by selecting focal students and conducting structured conversations that reveal their experiences\, strengths\, and needs across academic\, social-emotional\, and wellness domains. Practice protocols for listening deeply to students who are often misunderstood or overlooked.\nData Digs: Engage in data analysis that uncovers patterns\, challenge biases\, and identify root causes to work alongside\, not against data in professional learning and collaboration.\nCreate a Professional Learning Plan: Integrate data practices that center student voice into your site and system to build collective trust and shared responsibility through protocols that make data conversations safe\, productive\, and focused on continuous improvement rather than evaluation.\n\nWhat to expect:\nThis hands-on workshop will balance practical application with learning. You’ll engage in data analysis activities using real student scenarios\, experience facilitation protocols you can immediately use with your teams\, and leave with tools and templates to establish ongoing data analysis practices in your professional learning spaces that center student voice and equity\, while building collective trust amongst colleagues. \nWho should enroll:\nThis workshop is designed for educators\, teacher leaders\, instructional coaches\, site\, district\, and agency leaders\, and professional learning providers. This workshop will strengthen your ability to use data to ensure every student is not only well served\, but a partner in their own learning. Workshop learning aligns with Community School Goals\, MTSS frameworks\, and Whole Child support. \nVirtual Location: Zoom\nDate: Tuesday\, February 10\, 2026\nTime: 4:00 – 6:00 PM PST\nCost:\nThis workshop is $199 per registrant. Partial scholarships for individuals and group discounts for teams of 4 or more registrants are available. Questions? Email us at info-leadbylearning@northeastern.edu. \n*IMPORTANT NOTE*: When registering\, please write “Data Practices that Uncover Student Learning” under the workshop title.

SUMMARY:Coaching for Deeper Awareness: Leading Conversations that Uncover Bias and Build Trust
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description:\nGrounded in Lead by Learning’s Supportive Challenge framework\, this 2-part\, virtual workshop series will sharpen your ability to lead coaching conversations that deepen colleagues’ awareness of instructional roadblocks\, particularly those rooted in bias\, while strengthening\, rather than disrupting\, collegial relationships. Through modeling\, practice\, and application\, you’ll develop the skills to facilitate transformative coaching conversations that lead to more equitable outcomes for students. \nBetween Part 1 and Part 2\, you’ll apply your learning by conducting a coaching conversation with a colleague. Workshop participants will be asked to bring their coaching notes and reflections to the second session to reflect and debrief with fellow attendees. \nPart 1 – January 15th\, 2026:\n\nLearn coaching strategies to deepen colleagues’ self-awareness of how their choices and actions impact student experience and success.\nIdentify and address specific equity challenges and traps that commonly arise during coaching conversations.\nPlan for a meaningful coaching conversation using the Supportive Challenge framework that empowers colleagues to name their own next steps toward equitable instruction.\n\nPart 2 – January 29th\, 2026:\n\nReflect on your coaching conversation using the notes and data gathered between sessions.\nEngage in Public Learning\, a collaborative protocol\, to explore uncertainties\, celebrate discoveries\, and deepen your coaching practice.\nCreate a long-term plan on how to support your colleagues’ growth this year through coaching.\n\nWhat to Expect:\nThis is a practice-based\, interactive workshop series where you’ll engage with coaching frameworks\, work through real scenarios\, and rehearse strategies you can implement immediately. You’ll leave with concrete tools\, enhanced confidence\, and a clear plan for future coaching conversations. \nWho should enroll:\nThis workshop is designed for instructional coaches\, administrators\, teacher leaders\, and anyone who engages in coaching conversations with colleagues. Whether coaching is your primary role or part of your leadership responsibilities\, you’ll discover strategies to question assumptions and examine equity challenges in ways that build trust and accountability. \nDate: Thursday\, January 15 and 29th\, 2026\nTime: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM\nCost:\nThis workshop is $349 per registrant. Partial scholarships for individuals and group discounts for teams of 4 or more registrants are available.
