SUMMARY:CERA Presentation: Leading with Data: How District Leaders Lead Through Complexity to Advance Equity
DESCRIPTION:Educational leaders are expected to use data to advance equitable outcomes\, but what does it actually mean to lead with data? While technical data skills are essential\, data alone rarely determine a leader’s next decision. Through a panel discussion featuring district leaders from across California who participated in CCEE’s statewide Data Leadership course\, attendees will explore how leaders weigh competing considerations\, communicate difficult decisions\, and keep equitable outcomes at the forefront when there are no easy answers. Participants will leave with authentic examples from district leaders and practical strategies for strengthening data leadership in their own organizations.

SUMMARY:CERA Presentation: Moving the Needle on Black Student Outcomes: Initial Data from the African American Student Success Network
DESCRIPTION:The African American Student Success Network comprises 11 LEAs who have been engaged in improvement cycles over the past several years to tackle a pervasive academic outcome gap for Black students in their school systems. Areas of focus vary from addressing the disproportionality in Special Education identification rates to examining teaching and learning in middle school mathematics to reducing the number of non-passing grades in high school core classes. And while the individual districts’ problems of practice are varied\, initial data coming out of the network is showing higher rates of improvement across most of the Dashboard indicators for African American students in participating districts than for African American students in the rest of the state. Come and see the data and hear from district leaders who are engaged in this work!

SUMMARY:CERA Presentation: Inside the CCEE UDL Learning Network: Using Student Voice to Improve Assessment and Learner Agency
DESCRIPTION:Participants will step into the role of a district team participating in the CCEE UDL Learning Network and analyze mock student perception survey data focused on assessment and learner agency. Together\, teams will identify patterns in how students experience formative assessment and use those insights to explore practical UDL strategies that increase choice\, ownership\, and meaningful participation in learning. Attendees will experience the collaborative inquiry process used across the network and leave with ideas for using student voice to strengthen assessment practices and support more engaged\, self-directed learners.
