Data Academy
The California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE) launched the Data Academy as a pilot initiative last year to strengthen data capacity among K–12 education professionals across the state. Building on the success of our inaugural year, we are excited to continue the Academy in 2025-26 with expanded opportunities for learning. This year, the Academy will offer three free courses, each tailored to different roles and needs.
Academy Courses
Each course is structured to meet the specific needs of different educational roles and includes tailored content, expert facilitation, and real-life application.
Designed For:
K–12 data analysts who are new to education or working with education data.
What You’ll Learn:

Understanding California’s K–12 ecosystem

Key data sources and foundational concepts

Data governance, ethics, and introductory analytics

Creating compelling, equity-focused visualizations
-
Telling powerful data stories through reporting and storytelling
Outcome:
Participants leave with the skills to independently collect, analyze, and communicate insights that support equitable and effective decision-making within their LEAs.
Designed For:
School site leaders, including principals and APs, leading instructional teams.

Building fluency in multiple data types (formative, observational, summative)

Facilitating equity-centered, inclusive data conversations

Applying cycles of inquiry to improve site-level outcomes

Site leaders gain the tools and confidence to lead collaborative, inclusive, and data-informed decision-making processes that elevate student, family, and staff voices.

Emerging or current district-level leaders guiding systems-level change.
