CCEE Priorities for 2023
Date: February 10, 2023
2023 is shaping up to be a very important and interesting year for education. The CCEE continues its role and responsibilities as a state agency partner focused on advising and assisting Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) in accomplishing the goals set in their Local Control Accountability Plans (LCAP). More importantly, we continue to focus on our mission of helping educational leaders deliver on California’s promise of quality, equitable education for every student.
The Statewide System of Support (SSOS) is coming out of a two-year “all hands on deck” to address Covid-19 educational challenges. This allows us to “innovate through implementation” of the statewide supports, services, and programs prioritized to address learning challenges. Given the magnitude of already developed resources, tools, services, and supports available, I would like to highlight four key priorities for the CCEE for 23/24.
Community and Family Engagement (CEI):
The Community Engagement Initiative (CEI) website developed with the CEI Agency partners has provided incredible resources to the field for engaging with their communities to form authentic relationships between districts, families, and the community they serve. CEI has a network of over 40 LEAs (including charters) who, with the collaboration of Lead Agency Partners, regularly engage one another in identifying effective models of community engagement, developing metrics, having challenging conversations, and building trusting relationships.
The Learning Acceleration Systems Grant (LASG):
The Learning Acceleration System Grant focuses on developing a California education network to advance student progress so that students experience a strong and rapid improvement in their mastery of knowledge and skills. The three grantee projects are led by the Santa Clara County Office of Education, San Diego County Office of Education, and Lake County Office of Education. For more information, please see the Learning Acceleration System Grant website, which features information on the three grantee projects and highlights asynchronous and synchronous professional learning.
Direct Technical Assistance
Our team has worked hard in collaboration with state lead agencies to enhance support to districts receiving Direct Technical Assistance from the CCEE as part of the Statewide System of Support targeted/supplemental support models. Districts engaged in direct technical assistance have progress reports posted quarterly on our website. To review the December 2022 Quarter I reports, please click here.
Statewide System of Support
In collaboration with the California Department of Education and the State Board of Education, we have updated the LEA Differentiated Assistance FAQs under California’s Accountability System. County superintendents received a sample letter and the FAQs to use as resources to leverage the statewide system support partners. To review the FAQs, please click here.
The CCEE calendar now features upcoming professional learning activities that the CCEE provides with statewide partners. The events calendar also includes professional learning sessions offered by the statewide system of support through the Geographic Leads, SELPA Leads, and Expert Leads. Many of these sessions are free for TK-12 teachers and administrators to improve student outcomes in alignment with state priorities. To view the calendar, please click here.
In addition, there are various projects that support our statutory call to “advise and assist” districts and county offices in achieving their identified Local Control Accountability Plan goals. Those various projects are located under the Transforming Systems for Equitable Education Outcomes (TSEE) here.
The homepage now features “Request CCEE Assistance” for LEAs to submit requests for CCEE to advise and assist LEAs in achieving LCAP goals. To review the request form, please click here.
As you can see, there’s much to know in regard to how the CCEE can be a resource that supports LEAs in achieving their defined goals. I am very proud of our team’s work, and I am extremely encouraged by the future to come.
