Assessment Practices for Multilingual Learners

This session provides special educators with a comprehensive understanding of effective, culturally and linguistically responsive assessment strategies. Moving beyond traditional approaches, participants will learn how to accurately capture dual language learners’ knowledge and abilities, with special guest presenters from Imperial County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) state resource leads in this area, Multilingual Students with Exceptional Needs (MUSE). Explore strategies for leveraging home language and culture to ensure assessments are valid, engaging, and equitable. Participants will leave with practical tools and approaches to ensure all dual language learners receive the support they need to thrive.
