CERA Presentation: Finding Bright Spots in California’s Chronic Absenteeism Landscape

Chronic absenteeism has skyrocketed since the pandemic, with our most vulnerable students feeling the greatest impact. In 2021-22, over 40% of Kindergarteners were chronically absent–amounting to millions of hours of lost foundational learning.
Join the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence, AttendanceWorks and UC Davis GSE to learn from districts whose approaches to:
developing open lines of communication between families and the school team(s);
integrating socio-emotional health and well-being with academic instruction; and
using data to set goals, measure progress, and share updates
have resulted in chronic absenteeism rates that are or near the single digits!
