From Pilot to Practice: A Case Study of a District’s Journey to Implement Formative Assessment Practices to Improve Student Outcomes in Math

Join the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE) as they showcase their Data Research Learning Network, which empowers districts and counties across California to innovate their data and assessment practices. In this session, Rincon Valley USD will highlight their bottom-up approach to rebalancing their local assessment system. By leveraging formative assessments and math learning progressions, they’ve created a dynamic process to better inform teaching and improve student outcomes.

Participants will walk away with a valuable starter toolkit, including a walkthrough protocol, reflection and action planning templates, sample teacher and learner surveys, and data chat protocols for effective data meetings. Additionally, attendees will gain access to CCEE’s Assessment System Review Learning Path and Tool to further support their assessment system improvements.
