The PCOE State and Federal Programs Network meets monthly following the CDE State and Federal Directors meeting. We provide current and accurate information for program directors responsible for oversight of federal categorical programs and state requirements. Meetings include pertinent and timely information on topics related to categorical needs, programs, compliance, and other related items. In addition, the meetings provide an opportunity to meet and share ideas with people who have similar responsibilities within other Local Educational Agencies (LEAs).

Start the day with a special practice—learning to give attention to the present moment with curiosity, non-judgement, and kindness. This group utilizes a combination of Mindful Schools Curriculum (mindfulschools.org), Mindfulness Techniques developed by Christopher Willard PsyD (drchristopherwillard.com), Action for Happiness’ Kindness Curriculum, and 10 years of clinical practice supporting individuals with integrating mindfulness into everyday life. K-12 Educators

This monthly cohort will focus on how to support the development of proficient readers and improve reading outcomes for all learners. Participants will engage in content from the Getting Reading Right modules created by the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). Evidence-based strategies, tools, and resources will be shared to support both assessment and instruction.

The English Language Proficiency Assessments for California or ELPAC have high stakes for English Learners that include criteria for placement in ELD classes and reclassification. Backwards mapping is a key strategy to ensure that instruction aligns with the demands of the ELPAC. This session examines the demands and language used and then provides time to plan for instruction and assessment alignment.
