WHAT IS THE YDI? The Youth Development Institute (YDI) was created to help youth-serving organizations improve their programs by incorporating evidence-based youth development practices. YDI provides teams a powerful and interactive learning and training experience as a way to launch organizational change with the goal of aligning practices with youth development principles, building staff and agency capacity and professionalizing the youth development field.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) eliminates barriers in the design of the learning environment and makes curriculum accessible to all students. WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES: Understand the underlying principles of UDL, Understand the basic neuroscience to reach all learners, Explore & use UDL principles for designing instruction tomeet student needs, Engage in professional conversations around UDLapplications across classrooms

GUIDING QUESTION: How can assessments be used to support equitable, high quality UTK and P-3 programs? LEARNING OUTCOME:Leaders can make specific connections between existing assessments and how they can inform equity-centered continuous improvement for systemically marginalized and historically underserved students.

How can we support the development of foundational literacy skills for our diverse multilingual-English learner students? It is critical to adapt instructional practices to meet the unique needs and characteristics of multilingual-English learners (MLL-ELs). This event will specifically address strategies to intentionally support MLL-EL students with phonological/phonemic awareness and phonics skills while simultaneously fostering the development of both expressive and receptive language.
